Barbara began designing jewelry in 2005 but her path came by way of fine art. She studied studio art at the City University of New York, the Brooklyn Museum Art School, and photography at Parsons the New School for Design. She then took a hiatus from art, and began a successful career as an industry executive for a major financial services company. There she had the opportunity to travel globally and reside for some time in Southeast Asia where the culture would later inspire her designs.  Barbara eventually decided she needed to reconnect with her creative roots and started Barbara Wilkinson Jewelry. Combining her creativity with her business fortitude proved to be a winning combination. Now she has come full circle and back to her creative passion and independent spirit. Barbara's continually evolving aesthetic strikes a balance between modern and classic.

Barbara personally selects all ethically sourced gemstones for their quality and brilliance.  All designs are created in her New York City studio using traditional methods such as wire-wrapping, beading and metal-smithing.  Her work is available online and at boutiques, various designer pop-up events, and retail events across the United States.

In addition to designing jewelry, Barbara is an avid supporter of independent design and independent business. She is the co-founder of the ID Pop Shop, a monthly retail event that features a rotating cast of New York City's top independent brands of apparel, accessories, jewelry and art.  A member of the NY Handmade Collective (formerly Etsy NY), Barbara recently served on the board of directors for 2 years as events director and operations director.
